Homemade DeArmond Electromechanical Tremolo from Scrap Parts

A little longer than what we usually review, but this is an area of special interest and the film is well-done. Here, “Uncle Doug” explains how to build a mechanical tremolo for an electric guitar.

The thing he makes is really cool looking and works pretty well. What I kind of like about this movies is how he leaves out all of the hard stuff. He slices and tapers thick rods of aluminum, solders copper, connects up a few guitar inputs and a potentiometer, machines plexiglas, and basically shapes a lot of metal, but none of that is in this DIY video. He just assumes you can do all that.

That said, I really enjoyed seeing how this thing works. I can’t believe somebody thought of this in the first place.
